Good Ergonomic Design
Ergonomics is a study of designing objects. According to this Society ergonomics is “the function of scientific information relating to humans to the design of stuff, systems and setting for human use. Ergonomics comes into the whole thing which involves people. If the system is designed well then the following are the symbols of Ergonomics principals:
- Work systems
- Sports
- Leisure
- Health
- Safety
In a few words we describe the essence as stated: “Ergonomics is a loom which puts human requirements and potentials at the spotlight of designing technological systems. The main plan is to make sure that humans and technology work in complete accord, with the tools and tasks associated to human characteristics.”
Wherever there is some kind of repetitive use of a instrument or assignment ergonomics require to be measured. The aim should always be to decrease revelation to distress so if a job is recurring the tool used should be designed so that the body can take out the job in a number of different techniques. If there is one easy rule it is that the work should be fixed to the user and the product to the user. As much as workplace ergonomics is concerned the endeavor is to capitalize on efficiency while minimizing operator tiredness and embarrassment.

But, what should we be looking out for as customers of products or as employees where equipment is provided for us? The respond is not as simple as one may think. The word ergonomic is often wrongly connected with scientific, about medical looking equipments. But there is no reason why ergonomically exact products should not look exciting as they can show in modern or traditional style. The same rules are applied to principles of good design as they applied to good ergonomics: variety should follow function.
Certainly some types of product are extra flexible to be designed according to the requirements of the individual using them than others. Some have their structure pretty much as dictated by what they do, as different to the console of the user. Cars and motorbikes are much more controlled by the need to make a machine work, while a pair of scissors can be designed through ease of use as the major priority. Gary Davis - an Ergonomist and industrial designer writes “ergonomics should be considered in the design of virtually any product, system or environment. Failure to do so may lead to designs which do not fit the physical, psychological or sociological needs of the user which are unlikely to be commercially successful.”
So the standard contemplation is not how a creation looks, but how it work. What is the mainly ergonomic chair for one person will not be the similar for another.
